The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Affairs (MAECI) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) launched a new call for collecting joint scientific research projects (2018-2020).

The announcement falls within the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding between Italy and China signed in Beijing on 17 November 2015 during the Italy-China Science, Technology & Innovation Week 2015.

Its main objective is to expand bilateral cooperation in scientific fields, deepening the dialogue among both scientific communities.

The projects that can be proposed shall concern the following research areas:

  • New materials (with particular reference to Two-dimensional systems and graphene);
  • Environment (with particular reference to Urban Circular Economy)
  • Physics and Astrophysics (with particular reference to quantum technology and dark matter)
  • Health (with particular reference to personalized medicine, genomics and chronic diseases)

The deadline is 22 June 2017 and the projects have to be proposed exclusively through the online platform at the following link:

A joint commission will evaluate the proposed projects on the basis of the criteria of the call, available at the following link:

The selected projects subsequently will be able to access the annual co-financing request, according to the “major projects” format.
