CHINA-ITALY INNOVATION FORUM

1. Big Data Science Park
The province of Guizhou has rolled out some years ago a range of preferential policies the development of the big data industry by offering benefits including taxation, finance and human resources. Meanwhile, the Guiyang government has been ramping up its efforts to develop the city as a base for China’s big data industries. Investments include joint construction of technology and science parks. The visit will include the Exhibition Center of Guiyang Integrated Bonded Zone and the AI Industrial Innovation Demonstration Base.

2. Five hundred meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST) Engineering and Technology Park (only on invitation)
It is a the largest single dish radio telescope in the world with very innovative concepts. It is funded by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and managed by the National Astronomical Observatories of Chinese Academy of Sciences (NAOC), with the government of Guizhou province as a cooperation partner. It is located at a great depression with a diameter of about 800 m near the village of Dawodang in Guizhou Province.
Being the world’s largest filled-aperture telescope located at an extremely radio quiet site, the FAST science impact on astronomy will be extraordinary, and has the potential to revolutionize other areas of the natural sciences. Compared with its precursor — Arecibo — FAST has an advantage of a factor of 2 in raw sensitivity and a factor of 5-10 in surveying speed. FAST will also cover two to three times more sky area thanks to its innovative design of an active primary surface. A science instrument with an order of magnitude improvement in any of its capacities which is also able to explore new dimensions in parameter space is likely to generate unexpected discoveries.
