Water, wetlands and life on earth: three connected elements!
The countdown to World Wetland Day has begun! Celebrated on February 2, World Wetlands Day coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Ramsar Convention, the international treaty for the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands approved in 1971. But what is meant by “wetlands”? Where are they located? Why are they so important? What is their role in our ecosystem? And then, what are their main threats? Find it out together with Città della Scienza and its labs, scientific demonstrations and meetings held by experts!
Guided tours through CORPOREA – the interactive museum Human Body – will be offered as usual, as well as the screening of extraordinary Planetarium shows.

During this lab, capillarity – the phenomenon through which water is able to rise up through very small pipes called capillaries – will be observed. Do flowers bloom on command? That’s possible, if we give flowers water they will certainly bloom, especially if they are made of paper…!

A world invisible to the naked eye, packed with bacteria, algae, fungi and ciliates belonging to both the animal and plant world, ready to be discovered and observed in their structural characteristics, lifestyles and methods of reproduction.

Thanks to an interactive augmented reality system and the use your smartphone, see why Planet Earth is so privileged compared to other planets of our Solar System. Extrasolar planets discovered so far will never be able to accommodate life as we know it, due to the lack of the fundamental properties that make Earth so hospitable for its inhabitants: wetlands – the so-called “kidneys” of the Earth – and the atmosphere protecting us from the harmful radiation of the Sun. Try to dodge planets and astronauts and… have fun!

In ottemperanza alle nuove disposizioni del Governo, dal 10 gennaio 2022 per accedere al Museo interattivo e al Planetario di Città della Scienza è obbligatorio che i visitatori esibiscano il Super Green Pass, unitamente a un valido documento di identità.
Per accedere al Planetario i visitatori dovranno indossare la mascherina FFP2.
Tali norme non si applicano ai minori di anni 12, ma si consiglia comunque l’uso della mascherina FFP2.

Le disposizioni non si applicano ai bambini di età inferiore ai 12 anni e ai soggetti con certificazione medica specifica.

I visitatori potranno permanere all’interno delle aree espositive per il tempo che vorranno e interagire direttamente, anche senza guida, con gli exhibit.
