Città della Scienza at the MIT for the project “Exhibit Fablab”

From May 27 to 30, a delegation from Città della Scienza composed by Luigi Amodio – Director General, Mariangela Contursi – Head of Business Creation and Development and Paolo Cascone, Head of Urban FabLab at Città della Scienza, was hosted by the MIT in Boston under the Italo-American project of scientific cooperation “Exhibit FabLab at Città della Scienza“.

The project, sponsored by the Italian Embassy in the United States of America, sees the collaboration between Città della Scienza, the MIT Museum (a department of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and the ASTC – Association of Science and Technology Center in Washington. It aims to develop a program of exchanges, pilot activities and technology transfer based on mutual understanding and sharing of experiences, approaches and methodologies in the field of ITC.

At the heart of cooperation activities, lasting two years, there will be the FabLab experience, one of the most interesting implemented by the MIT, whose final outcome will be the birth of a new infrastructure, “Exhibit FabLab”, as a part of the  reconstruction plan of Città della Scienza. The Exhibit Fablab, starting from the experience of makers, aims to become an open laboratory for the development of interactive display elements in the field of science and technology that involves in their design and implementation scientists, engineers, designers along with the visitors themselves. The first steps of Exhibit FabLab will be involved the design of exhibitions for Corporea, the first part of the news science centre due to open in 2015.
