Fondazione Idis approves the financial statements for the year 2012

The Partner’s Meeting of Fondazione IDIS-Città della Scienza has approved today the financial statements for the year 2012.

The Foundation, which has developed in the year a turnover of around € 9 million, closed the financial year with a profit before tax of € 450,000 and a final profit of 51,000 €.

“This result – said professor Silvestrini, president of the Foundation – shows an institution solid and sound on the economic side, whose main problem remains that of the intolerable delays in payments by the public administration, as well as for many companies in our country. I am very satisfied with this result, coming at a time of severe global economic crisis, due to the ability and the sacrifices of the team that works for Città della Scienza. I want to remember that our Foundation is supported by public money only for about 35% of its budget, while the main part of our financial performance results from the activities we carry out”.

President Silvestrini wanted to remember the partners missing in recent months: the Nobel Prize winner Rita Levi Montalcini and Aldo di Lorenzo, a former director of the Istituto Motori at the National Research Council. Silvestrini has also communicated the message of solidarity and collaboration arrived to Città della Scienza after the fire of March 4 from BAST, the association of scientific and research centers in the region of Beijing, as well as from the Nobel Prize winner Carlo Rubbia, a partner of Fondazione Idis, which is coalescing around his name a committee of support already joined by Claudio Abbado, Renzo Piano, the Nobel Prize winner for Physics, David Gross, and scientists at CERN Fabiola Gianotti and Guido Tonelli , among the discoverers of the Higgs boson.

The Partner’s Meeting also reiterated that the Foundation has to work more and more for its progressive self-sufficiency, even in the most delicate phase of reconstruction of the Science Centre.
