“Migrant Routes. A Different Journey Experience”
Città della Scienza from February 28 to March 4.

An exhibition for sensitizing and informing of the issue of migration at Città della Scienza, from February 28 to March 4.

The growing presence of migrant population in Italy represents a great opportunity for our country: not only for the economic and occupational side, but mainly for the opportunity of social and cultural development of the whole community. The first step toward an open and pluralist society need to start a process aimed to recognize the other. From this basis, C.O.C.I.S., CISS and the APS Associations in Italy propose a programme on social inclusion, reception, intercultural education, for answering to the changes and the challenges of the migratory phenomenon, through the use of innovative tools and methodologies.

At the core of this action, the need of improving the migrant’s role in our society, increasing the public awareness of the people forced to leave their home country. The programme will work on stereotypes of whom migrants are victims, actively involving young people, both foreigners and italians. Their capability to relate and interact among them is the key way for a change toward a real inclusion and collaboration. The programme is funded by the Ministry for Welfare and will visit five Italian regions (Lazio, Marche, Campania, Puglia, Sicilia).

“MIGRANT ROUTES. A DIFFERENT JOURNEY EXPERIENCE” will be at Città della Scienza from February 28 to March 4.

The exhibition consists in a multimedia and interactive space designed in order to give a partecipatory role to the visitor: through a role-playing game, the visitor will experience the migrant’s condition during the migration journey, guided by the explainers – most of them migrants themselves – interpreting the welcoming society: a forceful role reversal able to arouse understanding and a great emotional impact.

The exhibition is free and requires advance reservation, from 9 am to 5 pm during the week, and from 10 am to 6 pm on Sunday.
