Smart, action! – 21th and 22th July

How much have technology changed our daily life?

Try to close your eyes for a few moments and think of three objects that in recent years have profoundly transformed our habits of life, the way we study, work and communicate.

Surely you’re thinking of the computer, the tablet and the smartphone or at least one of these!
On July 21st and 22nd, come and discover how the extraordinary progress of the sciences and the diffusion of new technologies that are changing our lives more and more.
Technology is increasingly pervading our daily lives. Just take a train to realize how it has become today rare to see a person flipping a newspaper compared to those who play with tablet and smartphone to search for information and frequent social networks. Choose a holiday or a restaurant, buy a good or a service, even find a boyfriend: everything is done via the Internet and with applications created ad hoc.
According to the most modern investigations, there are three attitudes towards new technologies in everyday life: the “indifferent” (68.4% of interviewees) or those who do not see particular changes in the application of technologies to everyday life: they are ” digital natives “, who consider similar technologies as” default “dates in their lives. The second group is that of “enthusiasts” (30.0%), who feel in almost all areas of technology-driven improvements. This percentage includes the old generations for whom new technologies represent a discovery (because before they did not exist or were not used). Marginale, finally, the group of “pessimists” (1.6%) that has a negative opinion about the introduction of new technologies. And you, how smart are you and which group do you belong to?
Do not miss our activities on the subject of science and technology in everyday life!

To find a treasure, you need a map … And if instead it was your smartphone what can take you straight to the discovery of the treasure? Try it in “Treasure hunting … at the time of smartphones”: clue after clue, exploring the Corporeal Museum thanks to the support of your smartphone you will come to find a small prize. What are you waiting for? Get involved!

Behind every brilliant invention, there is the name of a scientist, a scholar who has dedicated his life to pursuing his research, even coming to make many sacrifices.

Alan Turing, brilliant mathematical mind of the mid-twentieth century, laid the foundations of modern computer science that dominates our everyday life between tablets, PCs and mobile phones. In “It’s code hour” using the SCRATCH 2.0 software, you can learn how to program a nice character to take actions or create custom GIFs. Being a computer programmer for a day will be fun!

What are the most explored areas of scientific research today? The nano particles, or particles with dimensions of the nanometer, that is a billionth of a meter!  Thanks to the “NanoKit,” through simple and fun experiments, you can understand the extraordinary physical and chemical properties of the nano particles and find out how they can be used in everyday life!
Finally, for our visitors who are still not very “technological”, “AniMani”, a beautiful laboratory of creativity where, inspired by a funny story, you can draw many animals using only your fingerprints.
Explore the exhibition areas of our Science Center! Visit the exhibition dedicated to the sea. Discover which new fish, molluscs and crustaceans live in our tanks following the guided tour “Marine Ecosystems”. During the visit, you will have the opportunity to caress some live marine organisms in our Touch pool. What an emotion!
How technology helps us explore and study the marine world? In “SOund NAvigation and Ranging” you rediscover the history of Sonar’s invention and its past, current and future applications.

For the little ones, “Create your marine animals“, a laboratory where fish shapes are colored, inventing new species, and then, as for “magic”, make them appear and swim in a large virtual aquarium. BIT is back the most exhibit loved by adults and children! BIT! You do not know him? Come and meet him, he will answer all your scientific curiosities and not only … Where have you been in this time? What adventures will he tell you? Do not miss this appointment with “Talk to BIT”. Take part in the guided tour by “Bugs & CO”, the new exhibition space dedicated to the spectacular world of insects and more. For every man on Earth there are over 150 million insects. “The six-legged giants” have conquered almost all the habitats of our planet …. it’s time to start getting to know them better.

Beyond the visits they guide a Corporea, the first interactive museum on the Human Body in Italy, the 2D show “From the Earth to the Universe – From the Earth to the Universe” to discover the most important theories elaborated by man during the time in the astronomical field up to the future perspectives, and for 3D lovers, “Robot Explorers” is waiting for you to travel together, lander and orbiter inside our solar system.

A new 2D show, free for the occasion, “Microcosm- The microcosm within us”, is scheduled Saturday and Sunday where you can “miniaturize” and be catapulted into the human body to defeat a mysterious viral infection in a raceagainst time … Will the patient survive?
