What do we know about viruses and their evolution? What does Italian and Swedish research focus on?

As part of the Italian integrated promotion activity abroad and with reference to initiatives, projects and information events on Science, Research and Innovation aimed at enhancing Italian excellence in the world, the Italian Embassy in Stockholm organizes in collaboration with Cittá della Scienza, the Science center located in Naples (www.cittadellascienza.it) the Italian Research Day in the World 2021.

The event will be held, in compliance with the current health restrictions, on a digital platform on Thursday, April 15, starting at 4:00 pm. The Italian Research Day will be inaugurated by a short excursus on the nature of viruses, through the virtual tour of the exhibition conceived and curated by the Cittá della ScienzaViral Passion” under the guidance of Silvia Bencivelli, science writer and journalist.

The exhibition tour will be followed by a talk between distinguished experts in the field, Prof. Alberto Mantovani, Emeritus Professor of Pathology and Scientific Director of the Istituto Clinico Humanitas and Prof. Maria Grazia Masucci (Professor of Virology at Karolinska Institutet) who will dialogue on the theme “Immunity and Covid-19, current knowledge and open questions” about the state of research in respective countries and how genetic mutations of the virus can change the course of the epidemics and the development of vaccines.

After the virtual tour and the speakers’ speeches, it will be possible to interact with the experts through the chat.

The event will be held entirely in English.

The participation is free of charge and the event is open to the public, by signing up for the Facebook event “Italian Research Day 2021 in Stockholm” (https://fb.me/e/4hNKIDwfm). The programme will soon be available.
