FAQ

QUESTION 1 – Regarding this tender, please ask if it is acceptable to evaluate equivalent and/or superior technology solutions of Other Brand Market Leader (Ex. Dell Technologies)

ANSWER 1 – Yes, if the technological solutions are equivalent and/or superior, other Brand Market Leader is also acceptable.

QUESTION 2 – – With regard to the open procedure in question, with a deadline of 12/04/2023 at 3 pm we are requesting the possibility of having our offer accompanied by the digitally signed tender documents sent via Pec, as an alternative to the options provided such as : hand delivery, courier or registered mail.

ANSWER 2 – Only the paper procedure is provided.

QUESTION 3 A – FAT nodes: given that the Intel Xeon Silver 4316 processor has a maximum scalability of 2 sockets per server, please confirm that the request to have “4 CPUs” is intended to be a typo and is instead meant to be “2 CPUs,” with memory remodeling to 512GB per node

RESPONSE 3 A – The indication of the number of CPUs is incorrect due to a clerical error.
The requirement to be met should be understood to be that of saturating the maximum number
of CPUs compatible with the indicated CPU type, i.e., Intel Xeon Silver 4316.
Keeping the RAM/CPU ratio unchanged, an allocation of 512 GB RAM per node should be considered acceptable.

QUESTION 3 B – FAT nodes: given the “computation” nature of the nodes, please confirm whether a total of 6 total Ethernet interfaces are required for each node or 2 10Gb interfaces may be sufficient

RESPONSE 3 B – Two 1GbE Ethernet ports and at least 4 10GbE ports are required for FAT nodes regardless of the number of cards (NICs) possibly through the use of multi-port cards.

QUESTION 3 C -Service node: please confirm the required format of systems named “service node”, as the indicated E5-2300 processor series is normally used in workstations

RESPONSE 3 C – The indication of the number of CPUs is to be given as a minimum requirement.
Any rack-mountable configuration with a processor of no less than the indicated characteristics is to be considered acceptable as long as it meets the other requirements.

QUESTION 4 – regarding the open procedure in question, ……, we are seeking clarification regarding paragraph 14. of the tender specifications. On pg.16, it is indicated what to attach in case of subcontracting, in point 2, there is to be produced at the expense of the subcontractor a supplementary declaration, which states “in the terms indicated under Error. Reference source was not found” Is it possible to indicate the correct sentence?

RESPONSE 4 – We apologize for the typo, the sentence should have been:
“…supplementary statement as attached to the notice documents.”

The attachment has been inserted

QUESTION 5 – WHEREAS, in the Tender Specifications in Art. AWARD CRITERIA, the modalities on how the economic score attribution is calculated are not defined, but rather the maximum score of 25 points is only split. We ask if it is possible to have, in more detail, this attribution since the tender is an ECONOMIC BID MOST ADVANTAGEABLE procedure.

RESPONSE 5 – The formula for assigning the economic score for each bidder is as follows:
P=Pmax+ (Roff/Rmaxoff)
– Pmax corresponds to the Maximum Score
– Roff corresponds to the Bid Reduction (understood as the difference between the auction base and the price
offered)
– Rmaxoff corresponds to the Maximum Bid Reduction (understood as the difference between the auction base and
minimum price offered

QUESTION 6 – regarding this tender, please clarify the following points: Computational Nodes: 6 a. Regarding the system disk requirements of computational nodes, is it possible to use BOSS (Boot Optimized Storage) cards with traditional SSD technology (not NVMe) and M.2 format?

RESPONSE 6 – NVMe is the highest performance reference technology and therefore this option will be preferred over the others.

QUESTION 7 – With a view to better energy balancing, while remaining in a balanced memory configuration, is it possible to use 64GB banks?

RESPONSE 7 – Yes as long as all channels are populated for optimal performance with HPC applications.

QUESTION 8 – Is a configuration with Storage node system + 2x expansion drawers with 33x 22TB disks and a 6U occupancy, 200Gbps connectivity and IceLake generation processor acceptable, but with the possibility to further expand the storage space with an additional 3x 22TB disks, staying in the same rack occupancy.

ANSWER 8 – Yes it is acceptable

QUESTION 9 – Taking into consideration the presence of a single infiniband switch, is it acceptable to set up a single port IB card for all machines for which such a connection is intended?

ANSWER 9 – Yes it is acceptable

QUESTION 10 – With a view to optimizing energy consumption, is it acceptable to configure I redundant power supplies with enough capacity to support the current configuration?

ANSWER 10 – Yes it is acceptable
