Big Carnival Party

A day of celebration where, dressed in costume or makeup by our talented science entertainers, you can have fun with colorful science labs and experiments, science show and an amazing show to discover that scientists can have super powers too–just like real Superheroes!

Choose your favorite superhero and come experience an exciting science performance at Città della Scienza. A succession of spectacular experiments and incredible special effects will introduce you to the connection between Science and Superheroes.

Who as a child has never dreamed of becoming a superhero, if only for a moment, to restore order where chaos reigns? Who has never wished to have super powers to do good for our Planet? Most importantly…can scientists really have super powers?

Let’s find out together on an extraordinary journey through super transformations and incredible scientific phenomena:

Bows that magically elongate
Tubes that simulate the force of the wind
Balls that defy gravity by floating in the air
Giant wind bags that inflate with a single puff
Spider web strands that move objects inside bottles
But are these real super powers or just ingenious science tricks?
Find out in a super fun science show full of special effects, suitable for kids, teens and families to celebrate an unforgettable Carnival together!

Each child will receive a small gift from Bubble World to take home a memento of this colorful and magical day!

We look forward to a science and fun-filled Carnival!

SCIENCE SHOW: It’s always Carnival in nature
In nature, a huge variety of living species can be seen sporting the most varied shapes and colors. A parade of masks!? Certainly not! Rather real communication tools, the result of evolutionary processes, which can attract, seduce, deceive or warn that … “it is better to stay away”!!! Let’s learn to interpret them with the science communicators of Le Nuvole.

INTERACTIVE LAB Masters of Camouflage
When one says “camouflage” one thinks of the cleverness of transforming oneself with tricks … on one’s face or on stage … well this in nature serves instead for weak animals to escape the attention of their predators; they thus reproduce, on their bodies, shapes and colors of their surroundings. But think also of dangerous felines and terrible birds of prey that resort precisely to invisibility to be even morè fearsome. Color and cut out a mask of an animal, prey or predator, master of camouflage.

INTERACTIVE LAB Discovering Nemo and many other fish
Try creating a magical aquarium filled with fascinating sea creatures of many colors that inhabit the seabed, and then with the help of a paper flashlight, let’s light up the design to create a magical setting!
Convention Center Gallery
Target audience: ages 3 to 6
Hours: continuous cycle

INTERACTIVE LAB Finger puppets
Puppets and marionettes-if they weren’t around what would Carnival be? Get your creativity going and create colorful and fun puppets!
Convention Center Gallery

INTERACTIVE LAB Scanimation
In this workshop we will look at the technology behind the development of animations and moving images. A fun optical illusion will be created (horses running, carp swimming, squirrels jumping, and more), which children can take home and show to friends and family. With a few “special” pictures and a striped paper anything is possible!

INTERACTIVE LAB Masks of a thousand colors
Workshop with painting and eccentric silhouettes of characters and animals, which you can take home at the end!
Convention Center Gallery
Target audience: ages 7 to 10

INTERACTIVE LAB Let’s build the zoetrope
The zoetrope is a favorite optical toy in the Victorian era that is very simple to make: you stick a strip of paper with a sequential image inside a cylinder. Rotating the cylinder and looking through its small slits gives the illusion of a moving image! And here are the first real cartoons! It was invented in 1833 by English mathematician William George Horner. Come invent your own in this workshop.

INTERACTIVE LAB Mandalas in masks
Geometric designs traditionally representing the cosmos and deities in different worlds, looking for the symmetry of the design and the universe drawn on masks. In this workshop, with sharp colors and various bits of color, you can make your own carnival “mandala.”
