The Mediterranean Workshop 2017 will be held from 23 to 24 October at the Congress Center of University of Naples “Federico II”.

The Euro-Mediterranean area is now affected by economic crisis and social distress, with disparities that generate tensions inside and among countries. However, as in other transition periods in the history of mankind, hard challenges come together with new opportunities, accessible by using innovative approaches.

Consolidating existing cooperation mechanisms and generating new initiatives by increasing coordination and concentration of objectives, resources and competences can be driving forces to promote sustainable and socially inclusive development of Mediterranean regions in the frame of the European Cohesion Policy. Dialogue, shared competences and agreed objectives should characterize this approach. In this regard, the Workshop will profit from the international and multicultural nature of research and education, as well as from existing networks.

The Workshop is organized bythe University of Sannio, University of Naples L’Orientale, University of Salerno, University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli, University of Naples Federico Il, University E-Campus, Fondazione IDIS – Città della Scienza, IRISS – CNR, INFN, Science and School and Svimez.

It offers the opportunity to present new ideas for the future of the Euro-Mediterranean area, to establish relations and to federate people motivated in constructing practical proposals with the features required for support through the appropriate institutional channels.

The core of the Workshop consists of sessions dedicated to four Work Tracks on best practices and new projects:

WORK TRACK 1: MOBILITY IN EDUCATION, INDUSTRIAL INNOVATION AND BUSINESS CREATION

WORK TRACK 2: CULTURAL HERITAGE

WORK TRACK 3: SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

WORK TRACK 4: LOGISTICS AND MARINE STRATEGY
