Città della Scienza adheres to the celebration of World Science Day for Peace and Development which coincides with the World Day of Science Centers and Science Museums: an occasion of great celebration and participation aimed at spreading the strong message of cooperation at international level of which science can and must be flywheel and vehicle!

On November 10th the “ISCSMD” – International Science Center and Science Museum Day – is celebrated internationally and Città della Scienza, the main interactive scientific museum center in Italy, offers to its public a rich program for this special event, in quality of protagonist being an active member of various international museum networks including ECSITE.

The ISCSMD is a world-wide celebration day born with the aim of demonstrating the importance and the cultural repercussions of the Science Centers and Science Museums on the population. The main purpose is to underline the role that these institutions play for the millions of visitors that populate the exhibition areas every day, in stimulating and nourishing their knowledge and awareness of sustainable development necessary as the only solution to face problems such as: climate change , diseases, hunger and exploitation of natural resources.

Since its first edition in 2016, the ISCSMD has been held on November 10th in conjunction with the World Day for Peace and Development, established by UNESCO, to reaffirm the importance of science in and for society and as a science, peace and development are closely linked.
