Smart Lab is a tool for a pre-incubation service dedicated to the testing of new ideas and their transformation into business projects for creative and young people who want to be entrepreneurs towards the definition of a business location.
Smart Lab suits projects of spin-offs and business ideas for the creation of innovative products and services: work from the stage of scouting and idea generation until the transformation of ideas, paying particular attention to the strategic aspects that determine the feasibility of projects presented.
Through the Smart Lab, BIC – Business Innovation Center supports the activities of tutoring custom routes, encouraging the involvement of important companies – such as those established at the Industrial Area of Knowledge – with a view to open innovation.
The Smart Lab operating model has been redefined on the basis of the results of a research work and exchange of experiences within KiiCs – Knowledge Incubation in Innovation and Creation for Science, funded the VII Framework Program, and coordinated by Ecsite with the participation of 12 organizations in Europe, including Città della Scienzza fully shares the vision.
KiiCs aim of the project was to foster the development of a new model of pre-incubation based on the encounter between Art, Science and Technology, from a contamination between creative artists and scientists to stimulate innovative processes and active co -creation.
As part of scouting and idea generation, Città della Scienza has active partnerships with stakeholders from research work, enterprises and universities.
