BUGS&CO, discover the new exhibition area on bugs world – March, 10th and 11th

At Città della Scienza we party! We will expand the exhibition areas for our audience with the exhibition dedicated to the sea, totally renewed in the marine inhabitants and in the contents and a new space dedicated to Insects for the little ones! In particular, Città della Scienza for the opening of the exhibition “BUGS&CO”, organizes an entire weekend of activities, science shows, workshops, guided tours, scientific observations and demonstrations to explore all aspects of these amazing six-legged animals. Test your courage and try to stroke some of them live! And again, would you be able to feed yourself on bugs? Finally, you will discover, through comparisons with experts in the field, all the secrets, curiosities and oddities of these perfect “war machines”!

“Bugs&CO”, the new unmissable exhibition space dedicated to the spectacular world of bugs and more. For every man on Earth there are over 150 million insects. “The six-legged giants” have conquered almost all the habitats of our planet … it’s time to start getting to know them better. Discover all the secrets that have made them so successful in a course divided into six thematic islands.  Bugs will be part of the daily diet, and their use has many benefits for both humans and the environment. Scientific studies, in fact, show how an integrated diet with bags is rich in proteins, minerals and vitamins, but low in “dangerous” fats. Their use can have positive implications also in terms of environmental sustainability. An opportunity not to be missed on Sunday, March 11th: – “Novel Food” showcased in Naples – a show cooking where crickets, grasshoppers, larvae, scorpions, moth, silkworms and similar for the production of innovative dishes !!!

Fao considers them as the food of the future, but before arriving on our tables, the bugs ended up in the bowls of the animals! The laboratory “Bugs, new frontier in animal feed” will present the main ingredients used for the production of feed used in breeding of fish species; you can watch the composition of an eco-sustainable feed with the use of insect flours.

Do you like insects or animals in general?  “InsettiMania” laboratory is right for you! Try to fold the paper and modeling brushes and create imaginative animals to give away or take away with you! Building a working robot is every child’s dream; if insects-robot then everything becomes more “magic”! With “6-legged Robot” you rediscover these animals by building and observing the behavior of the robots. A coding workshop!

Just talking about 8 legs and 4 eyes, immediately in the mind of each child goes to the image of a “monstrous” and “ravenous” spider! But can spiders be considered as bugs? Or not? Are they really so scary? We learn to know them more closely through the observation of live specimens, through interactive, dynamic and fun games and manual laboratories all dedicated to the world of Arachnids. Since the dawn, men and bags have always shared time and space. During the course of history, man has developed and refined techniques to exploit these animals, from which we obtain materials, dyes, dishes and much more … Save the date, Sunday, March 11, with the fantastic Science Show “Six-legged Man“.

Butterflies, bees, caterpillars, dragonflies, spiders and ants … small animals apparently fragile and silent, in reality hide a high strength and capacity for organization and survival. With “Bugs Tattoo“, discover the symbolism of some bugs and design and make a “wear” tattoo insect. Finally, insects always surprise us with their amazing abilities. Last but not least, their vision! Let’s go to the discovery of the world around us … but “With the eyes of bugs” surprises are guaranteed!

The exhibition dedicated to the sea is open again! Discover which new fish, molluscs and crustaceans live in our tanks following the guided tour “Marine Ecosystems“. During the visit, you will have the opportunity to caress some live marine organisms in our Touch pool. For youngest, “Create your marine animals“, a laboratory where you can color fish shapes, inventing new species, and then, as for “magic”, make them appear and swim in a large virtual aquarium. Everyone as a child liked to create incredible sand castles on the beach, fancy structures that punctually took the sea or collapsed. But for today’s children or for those who have never forgotten the child inside each of us, there is a way to build sand castles everywhere, without getting dirty and reshaping forever: it’s called kinetic sand and it’s a real magic.

As usual there are guided tours in Corporea, the first interactive museum on the Human Body in Italy, and our fantastic Planetarium with the 3D show “Robot Explorers” to travel together with probes, landers and orbiter in our solar system
