On Wednesday, November 19 and until Friday, November 21 will be held at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome the International Conference SIS-RRI “Science, Innovation and Society: achieving Responsible Research and Innovation”, organized under the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and with the support of the European Commission. Organized by the National Research Council in collaboration with the Agency for the Promotion of European Research (APRE), the conference is the most important European event this year in the policies of scientific research. The issue of how research can enhance the relationship between science and society will be discussed through six keywords:
- Public Engagement
- Gender Equality
- Science Education
- Ethics
- Open Science
- Governance
Six sessions, workshops, exhibition area, networking events fill the program of the conference. On Thursday, November 20 the Director General of Fondazione IDIS-Città della Scienza, Luigi Amodio, will present the European project PIER at 11 am as a part of the round table on RRI governance. The PIER project involved citizens, stakeholders and policy makers on the issue of responsible research applied to the future of the sea, aimed at the realization of an exhibition entitled “Sea Horizon” now on display at Città della Scienza.
In the “marketplace” that houses the poster sessions, several of the projects of scientific communication conducted by Città della Scienza under the European Seventh Framework Programme on science and society will be also presented: the GAPP project on women in science, TIME FOR NANO on nanotechnology, ACCENT on climate change.
