Over 250,000 visitors consecrated the 31st edition of Futuro Remoto dedicated to the theme “Connections”, the third in Piazza del Plebiscito, in the center of Naples.

The event, which began with the award of the Medal of the President of the Italian Republic, aims to strengthen the relationship between science and society, which has always been the mission of Città della Scienza, and has been a massive consultation on the topics of RIS3 Strategy promoted by Campania Region.

The new format of Futuro Remoto, the largest european happening on social innovation, shows that it is possible to bring people closer to science, culture and innovation.

The success of this third edition in piazza del Plebiscito is essentially due to people and connections: it is due to the synergy between our institutions, the Campania Region and the City of Naples, between the seven Universities of Campania and among the research centers and startuppers that Futuro Remoto has been possible this year as well. Our special thanks go to researchers, startuppers, volunteers, associations and all those who have chosen to play a role, bringing their innovations to the public. This is the true meaning of our event. Alongside the promoters, I would like to remind that the choice of making of Futuro Remoto the communicative pillar of RIS 3 Strategy in Campania puts the theme of the intelligent re-industrialization of our cities at the center of the debate. The need of a new scientific education of our young people, the need to create open, connected, solid cities.” Said Secretary General of Città della Scienza, Vincenzo Lipardi.

For four days, from 10am to 10pm, piazza del Plebiscito has hosted over 100 meetings with international guests, experts and researchers, over 10,000 demonstrations and experiments for a total of 550 key actors participating within the 9 pavilions and 12 thematic islands. There were 2000 researchers who chose to show to the public what is happening every day in their labs; 60 companies that took part in the b2b appointment and session, held for the first time this year, and more than 100 schools have turned the location into an exceptional didactic workshop.

By now,” says Vincenzo Lipardi, “this event is a great connection, piazza del Plebiscito promoted the idea that Futuro Remoto becomes the permanent platform for communication and social involvement of Campania Ris3 Strategy“.
