ECSITE President Rosalia Vargas at Città della Scienza

“Città della Scienza is a unique example in Europe of excellent skills, relationship with the territory and courage”. These are the words of Rosalia Vargas, President of ECSITE (the European Network of Science Centres and Museums of Science) and President of Ciencia Viva (the network of Portuguese science centers) during her visit to Città della Scienza on Friday, June 6. Rosalia Vargas’s visit took place during a meeting of the Scientific Committee of the exhibition dedicated to marine and oceanographic research promoted under the European project PIER (Public Involvement with Exhibitions on Responsible research and innovation ). The exhibition, funded by the European Commission within the Seventh Framework Programme, will be opened at the end of October during the Italian European Semester. It aims to disseminate the results of European research on seas and oceans, an important issue for the city of Naples and throughout the Mediterranean not juest as a natural resource to be preserved, but also as a source of economic development. Among the other participants: Roberto Danovaro, President of “Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn”, Katrina Borrow from the British Centre for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Sasa Raichevic from ISPRA and the journalist Jacopo Pasotti. The sea as economic and cultural resource will also be the major theme of the next edition of “Futuro Remoto”.
