Plant Fascination Week
From May 14 to 19

On  Saturday, May 18, 2013 will be celebrated the international day dedicated to show how fascinating is the study of plants. Following the success of last year for the first Plant Fascination Day, Città della Scienza renews the appointment for this year, enriching the offer with meetings and seminars lasting an entire week.

From Tuesday 14 to Sunday, May 19 the garden of Città della Scienza will host researchers, academics and associations that will lead us to discover the beauty and usefulness of the plant world. On Saturday 18, the official Plant Fascination Day, a green wire will connect European cities and various other places around the world, where researchers of various fields will try to convey enthusiasm, passion and surprise resulting from the study of the plant world.

Be part of the Plant Fascination Week at Città della Scienza: together with researchers from the National Research Council, CRA, University of Salerno and University of Naples Federico II, you will discover how to identify and recognize the plants, what benefits they can bring to man, what are the current frontiers in plant and agricultural research, and how is rich the plant biodiversity of our region.

The event is sponsored by the European Plant Science Organisation (EPSO).

All children and school children will take part in activities of recognition of plant species and each one will receive a little plant to take-home and care for. The Nemus association will propose a tasting of teas, while medicinal plants and in vitro experiments will be shown to visitors and coloring of raw wool will allow to discover some unusual properties of plants.

The Plant Fascination Week is waiting for you at Città della Scienza from Tuesday 14 to Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.!
