World Science Day for Peace and Development

The World Science Day for Peace and Development has been launched by UNESCO in 2011 and it is celebrated each year on 10th  November. This event aims at drawing attention to Science role in promoting development processes and creating real bases for long-lasting pace. Since its establishment, the World Science Day let different governmental  institutions, NGOs, medias, universities and research centres work together to define new programmes to put scientific innovation at the service of peace and sustainable development. In Naples, this event is promoted by Fondazione IDIS, an NGO cooperating with UNESCO, supported by the Province of Naples.

During the first edition, the Naples Chart for Cooperation and Intercultural Dialogue was presented and its first signer was the City Mayor Luigi De Magistris.
