Città della Scienza, on the occasion of the International Museum Day of May 18, becomes part of Google Arts & Culture, the technological platform developed by Google to promote and preserve online culture. Available on https://artsandculture.google.com/ over 100 objects and exhibits, Street View images of the visit path of Corporea, the interactive museum of the human body of Città della Scienza and the exhibition Mare.
The digital collection
The first phase of the works led to the digitization of 176 works, to which will be added, over the next few months, all the remaining works of the Collection. Among the most significant already online: Afro, Le Cittàd’America (1952), Fabio Mauri, Schermo (1972), Michelangelo Pistoletto, L’Etrusco (1976), Carla Accardi, Si dividono invano (2006).
The virtual tour with Street View
Using Google Street View technology, it will be possible to make a 360-degree virtual tour of the first floor of the Palazzo della Farnesina, which includes the entrance hall, the Atrium of Honor, the Hall of Honor, the Mosaic Room, the Ceremonial corridor, the Mappamondi Room, the Grenet Room, the Forma 1 Room, the General Secretariat corridor and the Stained Glass Gallery. The path allows you to appreciate the most significant works of the Collection, retracing some fundamental moments in the history of Italian twentieth century art.
The digital exhibition “System”
In the section of Google Cultural Institute dedicated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation there is the digital exhibition “System: new acquisitions and young artists from the Farnesina Collection”, a selection of works that want to witness the plurality of voices and expressions of the contemporary art of the last twenty years, with a particular focus on the younger generations.

Google Arts & Culture is Google’s platform that allows users to explore works of art, artefacts and much more among more than 1800 museums, archives and organizations that have worked with the Google Cultural Institute to share their collections and their stories.
