At the end of the meeting between Vincenzo Lipardi and Meng Quingjin during the 5th Week for Science, Technology, Economy and Culture, a cooperation agreement with the Beijing Museum of Natural History has been signed.
Established in 1951, the Beijing Museum of Natural History is recognized by Chinese central administration for its cultural heritage. Its mission is conserving collections, doing research and promoting communication activities on paleontology, biology and antropology.
With its area of 24,000 square meters, 8,000 of them dedicated to permanent exhibitions, and a collection of more than 200,000 objects, the Beijing Museum of Natural History is one of the most popular museums in China, visited every year by more than one million people.
The agreement is an integral part of a program of scientific, cultural and technological cooperation with China and Beijing Municipality, developed by Città della Scienza since 2006 through the involvement of institutions, universities and enterprises of both countries. Thanks to this agreement, the two institutions commit themselves to strenghten their relationship for realizing common projects, events and programs with the aim of exchanging experiences and expertise and giving a better answer to their mission: to promote a society based on knowledge through the widespread of a scientific culture.
The agreement is part of the program launched with the Cape Town Declaration about the promotion of the science centres as leading actors of a global strategy for answering to the new world challenges.
