The Music Festival is a great popular event held on June 21 of every year to celebrate the summer solstice. It’s a party open to everyone, amateur or professional, and involves all kind of music, with one goal: to popularize musical practice and unite people of all social conditions, young and old, to the most different musical expressions. Launched in France in 1982, the Fête de la Musique has become a genuine phenomenon that is now enrolled in a European context and beyond, involving many cities around the world. Also the City of Naples adheres to the Festival and has pulled together all the cultural workers, musical associations and artists, so that the event is coral and involves every district of the city.
Fondazione Idis – Città della Scienza took the invitation and Thursday, June 21 offers its visitators a program of scientific activities, musical performances and workshop for children. Of particular note, the meeting scheduled at 12 a.m. at the Agorà 1 in the Science Centre with the artist Marco Tirino that, with the SOUND OF STEEL, will involve adults and children in a highly interactive musical performance. This will be an opportunity to learn about rammerdrum, original harmonic drums, designed and created by the artist with steel, expert hands and patience … and it is the total craftsmanship in creating them, the passion and commitment to doing things makes them unique and gives them the specific sound that distinguishes them.
To complete the day’s program: creative workshops and scientific demonstrations on nature and propagation of sound.
