The event was held in the “Waterstone”, the Pavilion of Intesa Sanpaolo at Expo.
This special edition of the Forum hosted the Italian Minister for Education, Universities and Research – Mrs. Stefania Giannini – and the Vice-Premier of the People’s Republic of China – Mr. Wang Yang.
Mr. Gaetano Micchichè, the General Director of Intesa Sanpaolo, welcomed the Minister, the Vice-Premier and all the guests in the Pavilion. There were a lot of high level experts, such as the President of Expo, Mrs Diana Bracco.
This Special Edition was promoted from the Italian side by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research and organized in collaboration with Città della Scienza, Confindustria and Politecnico di Milano. From the Chinese side the Forum was promoted by the Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission – BMSTC, the China Italy Technology Transfer Center – CITTC, Tongji University and the China – Italy Design & Innovation Center – CIDIC. The Embassy of the PRC in Italy was fundamental for the coordination of the event. Special thanks are also owed to Huawei Honor and Huawei Italia.
The event is a showcase of Italian excellence along the food supply chain, through videos showing and highlighting the best Italian practices, in a setting where visual and informative elements are displayed to draw attention to Italian excellence and to cooperation with China.
As regards the storytelling aspect, a video was shown with comments by Italian and Chinese high level experts from outstanding enterprises – with a journalist acting as moderator – about the five key-phases of the food chain:
- seed quality and crop management;
- farming;
- food processing;
- logistics and packaging;
- energy recovery.
In order to emphasize the value of cooperation we deem that the setting should be targeted and centered on the themes of collaboration between Italy and China.
