Italy-China, 10 years of cooperation in the sign of innovation
Hundreds of Italian entrepreneurs, researchers and institutional leaders will participate in the next edition of the China-Italy Science and Technology and Innovation Week, in Beijing and Jinan cities from 25 to 29 November 2019. Thematic seminars, networking tables, one-to-one meetings and an intensive dialogue among governments and institutions will take place within the bilateral cooperation programme launched ten years ago between Italy and China in order to valorize innovative research and enterprise systems.
This year the China-Italy Innovation Week will have a particular importance thanks to the agreements signed in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed during the visit of President Xi Jinping to Italy, and in view of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2020.
ABOUT THE WEEK
Promoting scientific and technological “excellence” of the two countries and strengthening the bilateral institutional dialogue; promoting the exchange of knowledge and the mobility of people between the scientific and academic communities of the two countries; Linking high-tech companies to promote innovative products, services and skills; Supporting cooperation between business and research players developing innovation.
The Innovation Week represents the major cooperation initiative on science, technology and innovation between Italy and China and aims to create partnerships in innovative business-research contexts.
The Innovation Week encloses the China Italy Innovation Forum (CIIF – X edition) and the Sino-Italian Exchange Event (SIEE – XIII edition) and will be held this year in China from 25 t0 29 November 2019. The event represents the core of a permanent platform for the Italy-China cooperation in the field of science, technology and innovation. It is held alternatively in Italy and China, and includes a roadshow for the involvement and networking with Research Centres and Innovative Enterprises in both countries.
In Italy the Program is promoted by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) along with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), as well as the Campania Region for the Sino-Italian Exchange program. It is coordinated by the Città della Scienza of Naples in collaboration with the National Research Council-CNR, Confindustria and National Tecnological Clusters, most important Italian Universities and Research Centres.
In China the Program is promoted by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) in partnership with the BMSTC (Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission), while the SIEE is promoted by BAST (Beijing Association for Science & Technology).
THE PROGRAM 2019
With the intensification of relations between the two countries in the strategy of the new Silk Road and in view of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2020, Week 2019 represents a strong potential for bilateral cooperation in research and innovation.
Four full days of networking and matchmaking activities are scheduled during the week:
- 25 November (Beijing): Sino-Italian Exchange Event;
- 26 November (Beijing): Celebration of the 10th anniversary of the China-Italy Innovation Forum at the presence of Ministers Lorenzo Fioramonti and Wang Zhigang;
- 27 November (Beijing) Visits to Innovation Poles and Centers of Excellence;
- 28 November (Jinan) Side Event and visits to Research Centers and Technology Parks.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
The China-Italy Innovation Week is addressed to companies and all public and private entities (research centers, universities, national technology clusters, companies and start-ups, innovative districts, science and technology parks, trade associations, etc.) that:
• have a headquarter in Italy;
• have as core activity scientific and technological research or innovation processes/products ;
• have an interest in searching potential partners in China.
The participation in the event, one-to-one meetings and working sessions is free but the registration is mandatory.
HOW TO PARTECIPATE
The call for participation aims to:
- promote the involvement of Italian organizations in the foreseen program 2019;
- collect the requests of Italian participants for partnership with Chinese companies, research centers and institutions in order to schedule one-to-one meetings;
- collect proposals for the definition of working sessions.
Organizations and persons interested to participate at the event need to register by filling the online form.; For those interested in scheduling one-to-one meetings the deadline is 21th October 2019.
It is strongly recommended to complete registrations by the end of October in order to initiate the pre-matching actions with Chinese organizations.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
VISA REQUEST
To access in China it is necessary a valid 6 months passport and an entry visa. We suggest to carry out a Tourist Visa. The request must be made online through the China Visa Application Center, choosing the Rome or Milan Office:
The online form requires:
- a identity photo in a digital format
- the flight reservation data
- the hotel booking reservation
Once completed, the form must be printed, signed and delivered to the Visa Office with:
- your Passport
- Privacy Protection Form, printed and signed
- Flight reservations or ticket copy
- Hotel reservations
The basic Visa Fee is € 128.
This cost, as well as the procedure for obtaining the visa, shall be paid by the participants.
Further informations
As of November 4, 2019, the Chinese Embassy in Italy and the General Consulates of China in Milan and Florence will begin to collect the fingerprints of the ten fingers of all Chinese visa applicants. Therefore, we advise you to carry out the Chinese visa issuing practices before this date to avoid this further procedure.
TRANSFERS AND HOTELS:
The round-trip flight Italy-China should be organized and paid by participants themselves, as well as all transfers from and to the airport.

JINAN (27-28 November)
The Jinan Municipality will cover the costs for the train ticket from Beijing to Jinan and back, as well as the accommodation of Italian delegates participating to the Jinan side event. Italian participants who have registered for this event through the registration form will be contacted for hotel reservations and information needed for the train ticket, as well as the choice of travel options.
Transfer by train
The train journey from Beijing to jinan is scheduled for the afternoon of November 27th, while the return journey to Beijing is scheduled for November 28th evening or for 29th afternoon.

Participation, One-to-One meetings and working sessions are free. Participants must complete the registration form on our website, they will receive a confirmation by Città della Scienza.
Participants will be entitled to:
- Attend the One-to-One meetings that will take place in China (based on a preliminary matching activity carried out by Città della Scienza and the Chinese partners);
- Italian/Chinese interpreting services during One-to-One meetings and thematic seminars;
- Attend the thematic seminars and roundtables;
- On-site technical assistance and logistics services.
Travel, accommodation and visa fees are covered by participants. Only the Beijing-Jinan train round-trip and accommodation in Jinan which will be covered by the local organizers.
BSSEC- BEST STARTUP SHOWCASE FINAL
The finals of the Best Start-up Showcase Entrepreneurship Competition (BSECC) will take place as a pre-event of the Innovation Week. The BSECC is a program dedicated to startups and innovative SMEs aimed to explore the Chinese market and to facilitate their partnership with investors and incubators and their internationalization process. The BSSEC is coordinated in China by the International Technology Transfer Network (ITTN) and in Italy by Città della Scienza in collaboration with the incubator of Campania Newsteel.
The 3rd edition of the BSSEC was launched in Milan during the Innovation Week 2018. 90 startups have been selected among the following priority sectors: Intelligent Equipment & Digital Economy, Sustainability & Green Innovation, Big Data & Comprehensive Health.
