Two years after the agreement on the China Seismo Electromagnetic Satellite – signed between the Italian Space Agency and the Chinese Earthquake Agency during the Innovation Week held in Beijing in 2015 – the scientific cooperation between Italy and China keeps going on, reinforced by the recent congratulatory exchange between President Mattarella and President Xi during the launch, in early 2018, of the first China-Seismic Electromagnetic Satellite to monitor natural disasters, with particular reference to seismic events. In fact, President Xi has given great importance to Sino-Italian relations, underlining his intention to keep working to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in all sectors and to deepen the Sino-Italian strategic partnership.
It is the first satellite that China sends into orbit in collaboration with a Western country, confirming once again the Italian excellence in research and innovation in the aerospace sector.
